Staff Assistant to the Defense Staff's Export Control Section

The Defense Staff's Materiel Department at the Armed Forces Headquarters is seeking a case officer/staff assistant to be placed in the Export Control Section. We welcome your application!

About the Unit

The Defense Staff supports the Supreme Commander in processing and preparing matters at the military strategic level, ensuring that decisions made by the agency's management are implemented, followed up, and reported back. The Defense Staff is also responsible for translating the government's guidance of the Armed Forces into strategic plans and directing the heads of branches and combat forces. Furthermore, the Defense Staff has an overarching responsibility for coordinating infrastructure and material supply.

Main Responsibilities

As a staff assistant in the Defense Staff's Export Control Section, you will have a holistic perspective and be involved in the preparation, execution, and follow-up of working meetings and preparations within the framework of export control activities and the section's work. You will have a supportive role in the section's work and development. This support consists of administrative tasks such as writing documents, minutes, bookings, orders, shopping carts, updating collaboration areas, preparing and compiling materials in various management systems.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Completed upper secondary education with passing grades
  • Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
  • Good computer skills and experience using parts of the Microsoft Office package
  • Experience in service-oriented administrative work
  • Completed military service (or basic military training) in the Swedish Armed Forces

MERITORIOUS

  • Experience as a staff assistant, intelligence assistant, or security assistant
  • Completed staff service training
  • Experience and knowledge of the Armed Forces' IT systems
  • Experience from previous or current employment within the Armed Forces

Employment type: Permanent. The Armed Forces applies a 6-month probationary period for those who are not already employed in the Armed Forces.

Information about the recruiting unit:

At the Headquarters, there is the Supreme Commander and the Director General. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. As of January 1, 2023, the Headquarters consists of the Defense Staff, Operations Management, Military Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the Headquarters' Staff Department and independent supervisory units.

Employment with us means placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required. A security review with a background check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment also includes an obligation to be assigned to a military position. The implications of this vary depending on the type of position.
